Commissioned by Zenas Kim-Banther (trombone) and John Banther (tuba), Magabo is a one movement character suite about their two dogs (Maggie and Gabby) and horse (Bolero).  The opening section of the work, Gabby's Song, is a lyrical, sentimental tribute to an aging friend.  The middle section, Maggie's Dance, is a quirky little jazz waltz depicting a...quirky little dog. ; )  And the final section, Bolero's Spirit, is a bold, noble and driving depiction of their beautiful horse.  I had a great time writing for this more-unusual instrumentation.
